Connect through games, puzzles and shared adventures

Strategy & Games Club is a social group where children and youth build friendships through board games, strategy challenges, puzzles, cooperative adventures and imaginative gameplay.

Participants naturally develop communication, teamwork, flexible thinking and problem-solving while connecting with peers who share their interests

Our Approach

Strategy & Games Club is interest-based and strengths-focused social group for children and youth to connect with their peers and learn skills in a low pressure environment. Facilitators use gameplay and shared problem-solving to support connection while respecting different communication styles, abilities and ways of participating.

  • Activities may include:

    • Cooperative and competitive board games

    • Chess and strategy games

    • Logic games and brain teasers

    • Escape-room and mystery challenges

    • Card games

    • Team problem-solving missions

    • Tabletop role-playing adventures

    • Collaborative storytelling

    • Tournaments and themed game nights

    Games are selected based on the ages, interests and needs of each group and determined during sessions to match the groups interest.

  • Strategy & Games Club may be a great fit for participants who:

    • Enjoy games, puzzles, mysteries or strategic challenges

    • Prefer connecting through a shared activity

    • Want to build friendships in a smaller group

    • Enjoy cooperative play or friendly competition

    • Benefit from support with flexibility, communication or sportsmanship

    • Neurodivergent learners that may benefit from low pressure peer connection.

    • Learners who may experience anxiety or other social challenges and may benefit from guided support.

    The focus is on connection, participation and enjoyment rather than formal testing, progress reports or data collection.

Strategy & Games Club for Kids 8-11:

Play, solve and connect

  • Weekly on Thursdays from 4:30–6:00 p.m (90mins).

  • Location: 85 Cedarvale Ave, 2nd floor (Willow Tree’s East York Location)

  • Term based (Fall, Winter, Spring) OR School Year Enrollment (Sept - June) Options

  • To register complete our client inquiry form and complete a brief intake to help us understand your child’s interests, support needs and overall group fit

Group details:

  • Supportive group with maximum of 12 children

  • Sessions are facilitated and/or supervised by a Registered Social Worker

  • Services may be eligible for reimbursement through insurance benefits that cover social work services, all services are approved for AccessOAP funding.

Term Specific Information:

  • For 8-11 year olds
    When:

    • Weekly on Thursdays from 4:30-6:00pm

    • September 17th - December 17th (14 weeks)

    Where:

    • 85 Cedarvale Ave, 2nd floor

    • Willow Tree’s East York Location

    Costs:

    Commitment to attending the entire term is required (14 weeks)

    • Our social groups are $50 per hour

    • 90 min sessions are $75 per session

    • Fall Term is 14 weeks, Total cost is $1050 for the term.

    • We Offer Annual Enrollment Discounts (sign up for all 3 terms and save)

    • Insurance coverage for social work may apply.

    • AccessOAP funding is accepted.

  • For 8-11 year olds
